We Get to Walk in His Glory!
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 4:17-18) NASB
But I like the Amplified version as well:
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom). And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit. AMP
How amazing is this? We choose to follow Jesus Christ, and He says that He has given us the same glory so that we may be one, just as He and the Father are one! (John 17:22)
The word glory in the Strong's dictionary is doxa, and it means opinion, judgment, view; opinion, estimate, whether good or bad concerning someone (in the N.T. it's always a good opinion concerning one, resulting in praise, honor and glory); it is splendor, brightness-whether of the moon, sun and stars; magnificence, excellence, preeminence, dignity, grace, majesty-a thing belonging to God, belonging to Christ. It is a most glorious condition, a most exalted state, and Jesus said He was giving it to us as well!
These Scriptures should give us a glimpse of who we are in Christ. We are to walk everywhere and shine His light that is within us, into dark places! If we truly understood who we were, and that we carry that kind of authority and power in His love, we should be able to walk as Jesus did when He was on the earth.
This also brings a great responsibility upon us. I want to represent Jesus well, and that requires much time in the Word and with Him. There is no other way. You cannot get it out of reading about others-it requires time. That means it requires some sacrifice on our parts to put aside the things of the world. It also means that we put Him before any other relationship. It is a privilege to be able to do this because that is how we see the Lord work in our lives. Everything that you used to think was just coincidence or your own idea is now opened up to understanding that the Holy Spirit lives inside you and will encourage and equip you for every day life. He will even give you the insight to take a different route on the highway to avoid traffic, or even to pick up a card or something for someone who is struggling.
Surrender to Him and begin to receive the most amazing love that you will never know anywhere else! Then go out and transform cultures by spreading His glorious love! For God, Who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. (2 Corinthians 4:6)
